Hamilton was founded from the ashes of other watchmaking companies. Its predecessor, The Keystone Standard Watch Company, was a company based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. However, in 1891 it fell through, just five years after being established.
In 1942, Hamilton halted the production of consumer watches in order to prioritise providing pieces to World War II troops. During this time, over one million watches were shipped overseas to aid with the war efforts. This commitment was recognized by the US Army-Navy, who awarded Hamilton a US Army-Navy ‘E’ award for its manufacturing excellence.
This rare Hamilton model is called the "Navitimer" because of its strong similarity to Breitling's better-known cousin. In fact, it mounts the usual movement of the Navitimers of that era, shares its diameter, look, and especially its 24-hour readout function.
This Khaki has now become a rare gem and increasingly difficult to find. In fact, as of today, there are 2/3 of them for sale online worldwide. The condition of this specimen is fabulous, as is the patina that makes it fascinating and "hot" to the vintage enthusiast's eye
