The Oyster Perpetual is the cornerstone of the Rolex brand. Since its inception in 1931, it's laid the foundation for every model in the Rolex catalog and served as a staple collection for the company.
This example, the ref. 1005, is a popular variation that enjoyed a long run from the 1960s through the 1980s. Here, we have a relatively early iteration of the 1005 from 1967 .
We see the classic plain bezel over the timeless 34mm Oyster case. Part of what makes this particular ref. 1005 special is the soleil champagne dial. It provides a handsome continuum to the yellow gold accents and gives the watch a striking presence on the wrist. With this example, there are stylized hour markers and, of course, the iconic Rolex crown at 12 o'clock. In addition, there's the added bonus of tritium lume on the minute and hour hands.
While the Oyster Perpetual is a time-only watch, it still offers the benefit of a Superlative Chronometer-certified movement. This model houses the automatic caliber 1570, upgraded from the 1560 within the Oyster collection in 1965.
This beauty comes paired with our premium cow-hide tobacco leather strap and its original Rolex warranty paper.
