Paul Picot was founded in 1976 by Mario Boicocchi, an Italian entrepreneur who wanted to revive the spirit of traditional Swiss watchmaking while incorporating innovation.
The Le Plongeur N.1 is considered a cult watch for its design and performance, particularly within the diving watch category. The first Plongeur was born from a drawing by Hugo Berger, the Maison’s historic designer, and the story is curious: in fact, the drawing was made on a trip between Italy and Switzerland while stopping at a café, and the paper was a paper napkin, one of those little squares that go with coffee. From that first sketch of a circle on which intersected straight lines perpendicular to each other, was born the model that from the first moment thrilled both the patron of Paul Picot and his son Franco.
This is an “A-Type” that is, the first mk in the Le Plongeur family. The bezel is solid gold, the dial is lacquered white with tritium hour markers and hands, the cautchu strap has steel end-links and deplo. The watch arrives complete with box, warranty, chronometer certificate with serial, Paul Picot brown alligator strap and original buckle.
