The Gondolo collection was named after the famous retailer in Rio de Janeiro, Gondolo & Labouriau, with whom Patek Philippe enjoyed a strong and successtul business relationship between 1872 and 1927.
Here we have a spectacular example of a Gondolo, typical of the 1970s, but with a dial worked and decorated to the highest standards by the maison of the famous Nautilus.
The back, in 18kt gold, is engraved in clou de Paris, the hour markers are in natural blue sapphire, all different in cut from each other and set in the hypnotic texture of the background.
The manual caliber 23,300, which powers it, is greatly respected today, with many saying it is one of the best hand-wound movements ever produced by Patek Philippe. Carlos Perez said it "represents both the technical and artistic peak of Patek's 10 ligne handwinds.
The rarity of this piece is absolute. It is in fact the only specimen for sale in the world.
