The Speedmaster S/R long dial takes its name not from the hour markers, but from the elongated “S” and “R” in the “Speedmaster” script. This subtle yet decisive graphic variation was produced for a very short period around 1980, making it one of the most interesting transitional dials in Speedmaster history. It represents Omega refining typography rather than mechanics—details only true collectors tend to notice, and precisely for that reason, highly desirable today.
This 145.022 dates to 1985, placing it just after that brief experimental phase, while still retaining the character and proportions that made the S/R long dial iconic. The result is a Speedmaster that feels perfectly balanced: vintage in spirit, modern in legibility, and uncompromisingly correct.
Condition here is the real differentiator. The case is unpolished, with sharp lugs and intact factory lines—no rounding, no loss of definition. Dial and hands retain original tritium, evenly aged and fully coherent, exactly what you want to see on a correct example. No replacements, no shortcuts.
The watch is fitted with the original 1479/812 steel band, one of Omega’s best-wearing Speedmaster configurations, ideal for wrists up to 17,5/18! cm max. Flat on the wrist, well balanced, and increasingly difficult to source complete.
