Omega De Ville Tank

The Omega De Ville represents one of the most refined expressions of Omega’s approach to the classic dress watch, particularly during the early 1970s, when the maison was producing watches that combined mechanical sophistication with a distinctly elegant, architectural character.

This example, Ref. 151.0042, dates to 1973 and perfectly captures that period. Its compact rectangular “chocolate” case gives the watch an unmistakable presence on the wrist, while the combination of steel and gold tones creates the understated richness typical of early-1970s dress watches. Rather than following the more overtly sporty direction that would define other Omega collections, the De Ville was conceived around discretion, proportion and elegance.

The gold-toned dial is particularly effective against the warm case architecture, giving the watch the sophisticated character expected from a true vintage dress piece. Paired with a black crocodile strap, the result is exceptionally versatile: elegant enough for formal wear, yet restrained enough to work effortlessly as an everyday vintage watch.
