In 2005, Rolex debuted their very own rose gold alloy: the Everose gold. Featuring a blend between pure gold, copper, and platinum, this metal offers long-lasting color and sheen as opposed to standard rose gold. Three years later, the material finally made its way to the Daytona series with the release of the ref. 116505.
Chic and versatile, this watch has the hallmark traits of modern-day Rolex Daytonas such as a 40mm case, large chronograph pushers and crown, and an Oyster bracelet but in solid Everose gold. The 116505 also comes with a matching Everose bezel, engraved with a black tachymeter scale.
When it comes to dial colors, black, ivory, rose gold, and chocolate brown were made available. Over the decades, various hour marker styles were also offered – from the traditional trapezoidal markers to Arabic numerals and brilliant-cut diamonds. Sometime in 2020, Rolex updated the diamond indices to the more modern baguette diamond-style hour markers.
