The origins of Girard-Perregaux can be traced back to 1791 when Jean-François Bautte, whose company was later acquired by Girard-Perregaux, created his first watches in Geneva. The name Girard-Perregaux itself appeared in 1856 following the marriage of Constant Girard and Marie Perregaux.
Girard-Perregaux first applied the name “Gyromatic” to in-house self-winding movements in 1957. These movements beat at the standard 18,000 bph (beats per hour). But as with anything, there was room for improvement, so in launching the Gyromatic line, that’s exactly what Girard-Perregaux set out to do.
The oversize, rose gold case has incredible claw lugs and the dial, honeycombed, tell the story of the house's mastery of making watches of the highest caliber.
This watch is a great classic on the wrist but with a unique and strong character.
