There is a particular moment in Franck Muller’s history when the brand’s design language became unmistakable. The Long Island belongs to that moment. Introduced around the turn of the millennium, its curved rectangular architecture, Art Deco numerals and deliberately theatrical proportions established one of the most recognizable shaped watches of the modern independent era.

This 1999 Ref. 1000 SC, executed entirely in 18K yellow gold and preserved as a full set, is an especially compelling expression of the concept. The case is not merely unusual in shape: its construction, curvature and combination of polished surfaces require a level of execution that is often overlooked when Franck Muller is reduced to its flamboyant image.
