Eberhard Pre-Extrafort Rattrapante

The Eberhard watch company was founded in 1887 in Chaux de Fonds. Mr. Eberhard, the founder, was the son of a successful watchmaker from the Swiss capital, Bern. Only a handful of watchmakers have remained independent across 3 centuries, and Eberhard is one of these elite few.

In 1935 Eberhard & Co. brought a new generation of chronographs onto the market equipped with the Valjoux caliber 65 built especially for Eberhard.

The case material could be steel or gold. The first examples produced were equipped with a single push-button with a START/STOP and reset function.Later a second push-button was inserted at 4 o'clock, slide-mounted, acting as a stop and restart button for the chronograph.

In the late 1930s the turning point came with the commercialization of split-seconds chronographs, with 2 or 3 counters. Here too we find cases in both gold and steel. The 3-counters were marketed in greater numbers with steel cases while for the 2-counter it was exactly the opposite.

Greater circulation with gold case and a small production of steel cases.

This is why finding a 2-counter steel specimen in perfect condition today is a very difficult thing to do.

The watch we propose turns out to be one of the very few that have come down to the present day in absolutely perfect condition.
